
New Honk City (A.K.A. Hot Dog Pigeon Man)
My partner and I are currently learning how to develop a game called New Honk City: a pigeon-owned hog dog cart management simulation game. This is the initial exploratory visual concept for the game.
We moved to New York City a few years ago and wanted to commemorate some of our favorite locations in the city. Everything is heavily inspired by the MTA, Massimo Vignelli's iconic subway visual system, and our love for pigeons (and hot dogs!).
Because this is our first time developing a video game, we are using our concept to learn how to use Unity in order to create the game. Below is a video of the GameMaker's Toolkit tutorial I followed to understand how to use art assets and UI within Unity. Yes, he's flying backwards. 😂
